The MOM behind the MAGIC

We sat down with Founder/CEO, Brittany Torrance, recently to learn more about the Mom behind the Magic. Much like her favorite Disney Princess, Ariel, her story is about fighting for your desires despite life's obstacles.

Question: Can you tell us more about your story and how it lead you to Magic by Mom?

"My love for performing has never left me. You know that one thing, you look back on and think "damn, I miss that". For me, it's musical theatre. Preforming on stage, the magic you create for the audience, the most incredibly nerve-wracking yet amazing adrenaline rush there ever was. So, yea--I miss it BIG time. When I filed for a divorce in 2019, my world was turned upside down. Healing from abuse will have you questioning everything, I was a shell of my former self. Trauma gives you two choices, let it rule you or let it fuel you. I had to get back to the basics of "what brings Brittany joy"--Over the last few years I have focused on just that--through signing lessons, local theatre auditions, character entertainment, leadership retreats and podcasting. It's been a lot of soul searching, getting back to my roots, in an effort to discover who I am and how I fit into this world. These last four years I've found an innate desire to have something that allows my creativity to run WILD. It's lead me to a successful business in multi-level marketing, life coaching, and a top five percent Global Podcast. I've taken all these experiences intermeshed with my extensive background in event planning/management, sales and marketing to create MAGIC BY MOM && lemme tell ya, since taking this leap my creative spirit is on FIRE!"

Question: How many years have you been performing and which experience stands out the most?

"My first musical was Aladdin, I was five years old. So if my math is correct, for 31 years. Over the years, as life changes, my involvement in the performance arts have evolved which has offered me some incredibly unique opportunities. My most cherished experience is representing Philadelphia in the 2013 Rose of Tralee International Festival. An internationally televised program that garners, on average, one million viewers per year. I stepped out on that stage and sang, can you take a guess--"Part of your World'. The Ariel obsession runs deep lol. I spent the summer traveling Ireland, meeting with local dignitaries, attending community events, and working closely with various charities the Rose of Tralee partners with. I got to know thirty-one insanely bright and accomplished women from all over the world, it was an empowering experience."

Question: What makes Magic by Mom so unique?

"I'm a Mom of two littles, six year old boy and 7 month old daughter. Planning birthdays or really any event can create slight panic. The invitations, decorations, party favors, the entertainment. Question: You consider yourself an Event Entertainment Specialist, can you elaborate a little more on this?

I've spent 10 years in the private and public sector planning, marketing and executing events. It's a field I kind of happened upon. After I graduated Penn State, I didn't have any job prospects. My Dad recommended I volunteer for a political campaign. When our candidate won I was offered a position in his District Office. That's really where it all began, I feel in love with the creativity of event planning. Taking the time to create a Job Fair or a Family Community Day was the highlight of my job. Something about seeing what you created on paper come alive, is so gratifying. I gained a lot of knowledge in those four years. When I made the transition to private sector I learned the art of corporate event planning. For six years I cranked out events that connected businesses to communities & businesses to businesses all in an effort to bolster our local economy while building trust with the communities we work in. This extensive knowledge coupled with my performance background makes me an expert within the field of Event Entertainment. At Magic by Mom we provide our clients with a custom planned event. We do the research and planning for you so you have the entertainment, the decorations and the party structure sorted.

Question: I love how personalized your approach is, can you walk us through the booking process?

"Birthday parties, family celebrations and milestones--these are cherished moments and I wanted to embody that feeling from the point of first contact. We work very hard to ensure our clients' needs are met and always ask for a completed inquiry before beginning the discovery process. Once submitted we will contact you for a Discovery Call to discuss what your goals are, what important milestones your child conquered this year and what your vision is. Our party planning experts use this information to provide you with a custom themed PDF download to assist you with the party planning process. This PDF will include venue recommendations, local bakeries, a party planning outline, links to decorations, invitations, party favors and more.
